The Alamos Fire has been contained, but another fire just blocks away has closed portions of the 215 Freeway.
Crews in Murrieta Saturday were able to stop the progress of a brush fire that broke out in the area just the day before. The fire, called the Alamos Fire, broke out around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, near Los Alamos Road and Mason Avenue in Murrieta . In just a few hours, the fire burned about 72 acres. The fast-moving flames forced officials to order evacuations in the area. But by 3 p.m. Saturday, crews were able to contain the fire without any reported property damage or injuries.
All the evacuation orders were canceled, leaving just one evacuation warning remaining near the Los Alamos Hills Sports Park.A interactive map can be found by tapping or clicking here.The Murrieta Police Department reported that about 70 homes in the area were without power, but expected power to be restored by Sunday morning.But the area wasn't completely in the clear Saturday. Officials reported a vegetation fire off of the 215 Freeway, just blocks away from the Alamos Fire.
