Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue confirmed the bodies of 2 skiers were recovered a day after they were killed in a Utah avalanche.

Two skiers killed in the slide were recovered Friday after weather and terrain issues stopped efforts the previous day. Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera and a sheriff's search and rescue squad leader on Friday held the final updates on the efforts to recover two backcountry skiers who wereAuthorities were alerted around 10:30 a.m.

Rivera said he was able to provide "a lot of information" to authorities that helped teams locate the other two skiers quickly, though getting to their bodies Thursday ultimately became unfeasible. SAR squad leader Alan Bergstrom said teams were facing a dangerous situation on Friday as they searched for the individuals, and after the survivor was rescued, they pulled back on retrieving the two remaining bodies for the safety of the team members.

"There are situations, such as today, where we may know the people that are on the mountain," he said. "That makes it even harder."
