Crews battling fire at Kearny Mesa credit union [Breaking]
San Diego fire crews were battling a two-alarm fire at a Kearny Mesa credit union Saturday night, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The fire was reported just after 9:15 p.m. at the California Coast Credit Union on Ruffin Road, south of Balboa Avenue, according to a Fire-Rescue’s online incident fact sheet.About 75 firefighters responded to the incident, and were still trying to douse the flames as of 11 p.m. Battalion Chief Robert Rezende told OnScene TV that the call initially came in as a ringing alarm. The first crew on the scene rolled up to find smoke and flames coming through the roof.The incident was upgraded to a first-alarm fire, then quickly to a second-alarm fire, he said.
He said there were no reports of injury. “The good thing is that it happened at night without anybody inside,” Rezende said. He did not know what caused the fire, and said the Metro Arson Strike Team — comprised of police and fire investigators — was headed to the scene.
