Nancy was named the Crew's head coach in December of 2022, becoming the eighth full-time head coach in the club's history. He managed CF Montréal during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.The terms of the contract have not been released by the Crew. In his first season, he directed the Black & Gold to its third MLS Cup championship becoming the first black head coach to win the MLS Cup.
“In addition to winning the MLS Cup last year, we are excited to extend Wilfried’s contract because of the culture he has helped create within the Club, including our shared commitment to developing individuals both as players and as people, within the overall Crew ‘One Club’ philosophy,” said Columbus Crew General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko.
