The only thing better than French toast? Crème brûlée French toast.
I have made this a few times now. The recipe as-is is great, however, I leave it in the oven for about 50 to 60 minutes to firm it up. I served it as a dessert once, scooping it into goblets and topping with some whipped cream and drizzling some of the syrup over the top. Was a smash hit! One variation that I have tried is using Krispy Kreme glazed donuts that I have refrigerated for a couple of days instead of the bread and some chopped pecans in the syrup.
Absolutely the best french toast I've ever had. I use this recipe all of the time because it's so easy and I can make it in advance. It leaves time for tidying up when I have guests coming over. It's definitely a special event recipe however- nothing low-calorie here!The best easiest breakfast recipe I have found. Reminds me of custard sticky buns all rolled into one. This is my favorite because I can do it the night before and it still amazing two hours after coming out of the oven.
