After years of the franchise starring Sylvester Stallone going dormant, the first Creed breathed new life into the series by focusing on Apollo Creed's son. Michael B. Jordan's Adonis Creed became the new central focus of the movie franchise, effectively making him the new Rocky.

Instead of Rocky being the main fighter again, he moved into the mentor/trainer role that Mickey occupied in the original Rocky films. Arguments can even be made that Bianca is Adonis' equivalent of Adrian, while Amara is his version of Robert Balboa Jr.
The Creed Movies Have Not Given Adonis His Version of Paulie The one Rocky character that the Creed movies have not replaced is Paulie. The character was featured in multiple films in the original franchise as Rocky Balboa's best friend and older brother of Adrian. Paulie's role in the Rocky movies varied across the appearances, but Rocky cared about him deeply even if his rude behavior and negative attitude made it difficult at times.
The closest the Creed movies have come to replacing Paulie is arguably Damian Anderson in Creed 3. The film revealed that he and Adonis had a long history together and once had a brotherly bond when they were younger. While Dame was Creed 3's villain, he and Adonis settled their rivalry by the conclusion of the film.
It Might Be Too Late For The Creed Movies To Replace Paulie The Creed franchise might have waited too long to introduce a character who can replace Paulie's role in the series. Adonis has never been shown as a character with a lot of friends. The sudden development that brings a best friend into his life who is the equivalent of what Paulie was for Rocky would be a surprising change of course.
