The next challenge for Creed's daughter.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary As Adonis' daughter finally has her own spotlight, Amara Creed encounters a rival who challenges her as a fighter and a character. 10 years after Creed III, Adonis is overseeing his teenage daughter's blossoming boxing career.
Pierce makes things even more personal in Creed: The Next Round #3 by LaToya Morgan, Jai Jamison, Andworld Design, Wilton Santos, DJ Chavvis, Valentine De Landro, and Marissa Louise. In addition to taking on Amara's uncle as her manager, Jamie offers some biting commentary on Amara that may actually ring true for some readers.
After Pierce starts scouting and heckling her at the gym during sparring matches, Amara attempts to extend an olive branch to Jamie at her family's sandwich shop. Jamie doesn't reciprocate the kind gesture. In fact, it only convinces her to rail down her new enemy even further. Pierce boasts about having to fight for everything she's earned in life already at her young age. Both are generational talents, but both come from very different upbringings.
Being born into wealth and privilege comes with opportunities that have bolstered Amara's career before it's even begun. Jamie's comments to Amara read in many ways like meta-commentary, addressing any possible critiques readers may have about Amara's character. In an age where being labeled "the Chosen One" can get a character branded as a bland "Mary Sue," placing someone in Amara's position as the lead protagonist may not sit well with all audiences.
The self-awareness of the comic all contributes to Amara Creed's journey as she attempts to prove she's more than just Adonis' little girl. Fans can read more about her and her journey in Creed: The Next Round #3, which is on sale now from BOOM! Studios.
