stays behind due to his doubts about Circe's dark vision of the future being real. This leads to some interesting potential connections to future DCU projects, the debut of a classic Batman villain, and more. This new animated DCU episode doesn't have nearly as many Easter eggs and references as Creature Commandos episode 4. However, there are still some good ones to be found throughout. Here are the biggest DCU Easter eggs and references we found in Creature Commandos episode 5. 6 Connections To Themyscira and Greek Mythology Setting Up The DCU's Paradise Lost Series? While teaching a class at the beginning of Creature Commandos episode 5, Professor McPherson flirts with and asks one of her students to tell her three things she likes about Themyscira, the island of the Amazons. The student responds with the sculptures of Antigone and the recently discovered poetry of Appolonia. Both names have connections to Greek mythology, with Antigone being a princess and lead character in several Greek tragedies, while Appolonia is the female aspect of the Greek god Apollo. As such, these references are likely being made to set up Paradise Lost, the upcoming DCU series about Wonder Woman's home and her fellow warrior women. 5 Professor McPherson's House in Creature Commandos Episode 5 Filled With Amazonian Artifacts Close Spying on the professor due to his doubts about her confirming Circe's vision as real to Waller, Rick Flag Sr. and his new ally Eric Frankenstein break into McPherson's home after seeing her acting so strangely during her class. The home is filled with all kinds of shields, vases, sculptures, and helmets. As such, it's probably safe to presume that all of these artifacts have connections to the Amazons and Paradise Island given McPherson's field of expertise . Related Creature Commandos Cast & DC Character Guide Creature Commandos will kick off James Gunn's new DC Universe with an animated TV series including some of the weirdest DC Comics characters. Posts Regardless, it will be interesting to see if Amazonian helmets in Paradise Lost have the same design as the one seen in McPherson's collection. It was previously theorized that McPherson might show up in live-action played by actress Stephanie Beatriz . However, that no longer seems to be a viable option, now that McPherson's been found dead and replaced by an impostor in Creature Commandos episode 5. 4 Clayface Makes His DCU Debut A Classic Batman Villain Close The fake McPherson is revealed to be none other than Basil Karlo aka Clayface. A classic Batman villain, Clayface is voiced by Alan Tudyk who also voices Karlo in the animated comedy series Harley Quinn. Likewise, a Clayface movie set in the DCU was recently announced by DC Studios, though it's yet to be confirmed if Tudyk will be playing the live-action version as well. In Creature Commandos, Rick Flag deduces that someone hired Clayface to play a fake McPherson and validate Circe's vision so Task Force M would do their dirty work and kill Princess Rostovic. 3 Mortal Kombat "Finish Him!" Clayface is shown turning on an Xbox and playing the classic fighter game Mortal Kombat by NetherRealm Studios. NetherRealm is also the developer behind the popular DC fighter game Injustice: Gods Among Us and its sequel, some of the best DC superhero games of all time. 2 Rick Flag's Broken Back Feels Familiar Mirroring Bane and Batman Close While Eric Frankenstein manages to beat Clayface using electricity from a nearby outlet, it is only after Karlo brutally beats down Rick Flag Sr. Appearing to be far too powerful for the soldier, Clayface is shown breaking Rick's back over his knee after a brief brawl. This is not unlike Bane and his iconic victory over Batman when he similarly broke The Dark Knight's back, seen in the comics and live-action with 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. 1 Does James Gunn's Dog Have A Cameo in Creature Commandos Episode 5? Featured On Some Artwork in Pokolistan During Task Force M's fight with Pokolistan's knights, who try to ambush them at the end of Creature Commandos episode 5, there may be a subtle reference to James Gunn's dog Ozu. The artwork of a dog's face featured on the side of a building as The Bride fights one of the knights does bear a resemblance to Gunn's dog, the same canine who inspired the look of Krypto the Superdog who is set to debut in 2025's Superman. That said, it may just be a coincidence rather than an intentional Easter egg in the new DCU animated series.Your Rating close 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Rate Now 0/10 Leave a Review Your comment has not been saved My List My Favorite TV Shows My Watchlist Success! 8/10 89 7.5/10 Creature Commandos TV-MA AnimationSci-FiFantasyActionAdventure This animated series follows a covert team of monstrous inmates recruited for perilous missions deemed unsuitable for humans.
