Creature Commandos episode 3 has some great DC Comics Easter eggs!

While the new episode is predominantly focused on G.I. Robot and his origins, there's also some key connection to the new DCU at large beyond the automated soldier and his fellow monsters that make up Amanda Waller's Task Force M. This includes some major teams, locations, and some of the weirdest DC characters of all time becoming canon. ✕ Remove Ads As seen in Creature Commandos episode 3, the origins of G.I. Robot are explored, particularly his time during WWII and after when the United States no longer had a purpose for an automated Nazi-killing soldier. Exploring how he came to one of Amanda Waller's operatives, the journey and ultimate fate of G.I. Robot is as tragic as it is exciting considering his connection to the greater DCU. To that end, here are the biggest Easter eggs and DC references to be found in Creature Commandos episode 3. 7 Sgt. Rock & Easy Company "Cheers To The Tin Man!" Close ✕ Remove Ads Created to help win the war against the Nazis, G.I. Robot is shown fighting alongside Sgt. Rock and Easy Company, eventually being embraced by the men as"The Tin Man". Sgt. Rock and his men are classic DC Comics creations of the late 50s. While they weren't superhero characters, Sgt. Rock in particular did have a few brief interactions with the likes of Batman and Superman in the original comics. Likewise, G.I. Robot does name several soldiers of Easy Company by name, each of them being actual members from the comics who served under Rock: Bulldozer, Little Sure Shot, Wildman, Canary, Four-Eyes, and Bogman. What makes G.I. Robot's history with Sgt. Rock even more exciting is that it was recently reported that Daniel Craig is in talks with DC Studios to star in a live-action Sgt. Rock movie. As such, perhaps G.I. Robot could make his live-action debut in the project as well considering his canonical DCU history with Easy Company. That said, the Sgt. Rock movie could end up being an isolated"Elseworlds" movie, with no DCU connections. 6 William Magnus & The Metal Men G.I. Robot Was Their Predecessor Close ✕ Remove Ads After WWII, the government gave G.I. Robot to Doctor William Magnus. Voiced by Alan Tudyk, Magnus is a classic DC Comics character who created the team known as the Metal Men. Using AI devices known as responsometers, Magnus' robot heroes were named after the metals used in their creation: Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury, Tin, and Platinum. To that end, Creature Commandos episode 3 reveals that Magnus' study of G.I. Robot aided in his designs for the Metal Men in the DCU . 5 Sam Fitzgibbon Voiced By Michael Rooker Close ✕ Remove Ads Once Magnus was done with G.I. Robot, the automated soldier was passed around from collection to collection, eventually landing in the hands of Sam Fitzgibbon. Voiced by Michael Rooker , Fitzgibbon is revealed to be a Nazi who's eventually gunned down alongside his fellow national socialists by G.I. Robot and his primary programming. While it may be pure coincidence, Fitzgibbon is also the name of the Belle Reve doctor who implants the nanite bomb in the head of Savant, who was played by Michael Rooker in Gunn's The Suicide Squad. 4 Hub City A DC Comics City As Bad As Gotham The meeting of the national socialists that Sam brings G.I. Robot to in Creature Commandos episode 3 is located in Hub City. A classic city in the DC Universe, Hub City is said to be just as bad and crime-ridden as Gotham. Additionally, it's also the home of Vic Sage, the original Question, before the mask and mantle were passed on to Gotham's Renee Montoya. ✕ Remove Ads 3 V-J Day in Times Square G.I. Robot Was There Too! The classic photograph celebrating the victory over Japan at the end of WWII, a wider shot of V-J Day in Times Square is revealed in Creature Commandos episode 3. This reveals that G.I. Robot was just off the side, waving to the camera as the sailor kisses a total stranger. As such, it's a very humorous image, one that shows G.I. Robot's role in the war just ahead of his uncertain future once it ended. 2 Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man One Of DC's Weirdest Characters Close ✕ Remove Ads Taken to Belle Reve after killing all the attendees of the Nazi meeting, G.I. Robot is shown walking past more of Waller's incarcerated monsters in the DCU. This includes Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man, one of DC's most bizarre characters of all time. A villain of the Doom Patrol, Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man gained the power to turn any part of his body into an animal, vegetable, or mineral after falling into a vat of amino acids. As such, he often turns various parts of his body into all three simultaneously, like a dinosaur, tree branches, rocks, and more. Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man recently made his live-action debut in Max's Doom Patrol show. 1 Crimson Centipede Believe It Or Not...A Wonder Woman Enemy Next to Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man in Creature Commandos episode 3 is none other than the Crimson Centipede. A real villain from DC Comics, Crimson Centipede was created by the God of War to torment Wonder Woman.
