The latest episode of Creature Commandos reveals a new Batman in the DCU, different from Robert Pattinson's iteration.
This new episode not only marks the official beginning of James Gunn’s DCU but also provides fans with a glimpse of Batman ’s debut. While the actor portraying this new Caped Crusader remains undisclosed, it’s confirmed that it won’t be Robert Pattinson . Despite previous assurances from James Gunn that the DCU will feature a distinct Batman , some fans held onto the hope that Pattinson’s version could eventually be integrated into the DCU .
However, Batman’s appearance in Creature Commandos Episode 6, a flashback sequence implying his role in imprisoning Dr. Phosphorus, effectively puts an end to those hopes. The cameo, although brief, suggests that the DCU will have a different Batman, one with a more muscular physique compared to Pattinson’s leaner depiction. Had Gunn, Safran, and Reeves intended to bring Pattinson into the DCU, they would have likely showcased his leaner version for consistency. This absence confirms that Matt Reeves’ universe will continue as an Elseworlds story, distinct from the DCU. Meanwhile, the DCU will feature a Batman with a more formidable build, reminiscent of Ben Affleck’s portrayal. This cameo effectively closes the door on Pattinson’s version while potentially opening opportunities for actors like Alan Ritchson.
