As of 9:47 p.m. Sunday, the utility’s outage map had about 156 without power in the Scenic Foothills neighborhood of East Anchorage, an area that had seen almost 3,200 customers lose power earlier in the day. There were customers without power along East Northern Lights Boulevard, the same roadway where the Anchorage Police Department had reported a lane closed at about 8 p.m. from a wreck between Campbell Airstrip Road and Baxter Road. That crash involved multiple vehicles. There were no major injuries, an APD dispatch supervisor reported.
While police confirmed the crash knocked out power on Sunday, they didn’t confirm whether or not the wreck they posted a text alert about was the same crash the utility posted about on X, formerly known as Twitter. All but about 150 members have been restored in the East Anchorage outage. A car hit our switch cabinet, knocking out power to nearly 3,200 members. We worked with APD to secure the scene and then went to work restoring power. Will continue until all restored. TY for patience.
