All lanes of northbound Interstate 45 were shut down following a crash involving a downed highway sign on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024.through rush hour as authorities work to clear a multi-vehicle crash involving a downed highway sign, officials with the Dallas County sheriff’s office said Friday afternoon.
Drivers should avoid the area and seek an alternate route away from the crash near South Good Latimer Expressway, officials with the Texas Department of Transportation said.About 12:30 p.m., sheriff’s office officials said the exit to Interstate 30 had opened. Traffic was being diverted at Botham Jean Boulevard.The downed overhead sign is stretching across the northbound side of the highway, traffic cameras from TxDOT show.
TxDOT is expecting the shutdown to last six to eight hours as crews work to disassemble the sign and remove it, said Douglas Sisk, a sheriff’s department spokesman, in an email.An estimated four to five vehicles were involved in a crash. Officials did not provide any additional information Friday afternoon, including details about any injuries.Aria writes about breaking news.
