Nicholas Sampson resigned as headmaster of the elite private school after its council became aware of allegations against a teacher of “extremely concerning past conduct”.
has resigned amid allegations he was aware that a senior teacher at the school had sent multiple explicit emails to a former female student at another school where he had been previously employed.
The former student is understood to have been an adult when the email exchanges took place and the teacher was employed at Cranbrook, an elite private school in Sydney’s eastern suburbs that counts businessmen Mike Cannon-Brookes, James and Kerry Packer, and Michael Crouch among its alumni. Mr Lovell said the school council first became aware late on Thursday of allegations “of an extremely concerning past conduct matter involving a current senior school teacher at Cranbrook”.
Mr Lovell’s Friday missive was a swift about-turn from his full support of Mr Sampson on Tuesday after ABC’sIn that communication, Mr Lovell wrote: “The council has considered in detail the matters raised by the ABC and remains fully supportive of the headmaster and the school’s leadership.
