A Craig Robinson by any other name is not the same. Craig Robinson, the actor who played Darryl on “The Office” and who now appears as part of a rotating cast in the Broadway comedy “All Out,” revealed on TODAY that a woman he was dating once confused him for Craig Robinson, the brother of former first lady Michelle Obama.
“One time I was dating a girl and she called me up crying, thinking that I was married Craig Robinson,” he said during a Jan. 22 appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle. “She was like, ‘How could you?’” Sheinelle Jones joked. Further complicating the matter is the fact that both Robinsons hail from Chicago. “They had his name and my picture, talking about his wife and kids. So that was a tricky one,” Robinson continued. “‘Baby, no, it’s the wrong one,’” Sheinelle joked, imitating how Robinson likely responded. “‘That’s Mrs. Obama’s brother,’” Jenna Bush Hager chimed in. “That’s what I was saying, but I was kind of laughing through it, too,” Robinson said. Michelle Obama's brother and her podcast co-host, Craig Robinson, then appeared in a pre-recorded video for the actor Craig Robinson. “Hi, Craig Robinson. It’s the other Craig Robinson,” he began. “Broadway? Wow! Congrats on the show. And I heard that people are getting us mixed up. “So why don’t we make the most of it? Let’s have you host the IMO podcast with my sister, Michelle Obama, and I’ll give Broadway a try,' he pitched. 'I would love to do that. Just let me know if that works. No, but seriously, congrats, man. Really happy — for us.' Funnyman Craig Robinson appreciated the sentiment. “That’s amazing,” he said after the video finished. “I would love to do something with Craig Robinson,” he added.
