“I gave up a hit and we lost the game,” Kimbrel said. “I’m out there trying to pitch and trying to not let them put the ball in play. Unfortunately, Caratini didn’t crush the ball but he got enough on it and it was enough for the win.” Kimbrel sidestepped a question about his role changing, saying he and Roberts have had a good relationship throughout the season.

Trea Turner followed with a single that probably would have scored Gallo from second. Instead, the Dodgers came up empty when Freddie Freeman grounded out.
