The long-awaited film Coyote vs. Acme, rescued from cancellation by Ketchup Entertainment after Warner Bros. shelved it, will have its world premiere on July 25 in San Diego, a month before its nationwide theatrical release on August 28. The event, featuring director Dave Green and actress Lana Condor, will offer tickets via a lottery for Comic-Con attendees.
After narrowly avoiding cancellation that would have been as disastrous as a cliff dive with a faulty Acme parachute, the film Coyote vs. Acme is finally set for theatrical release this summer.
The movie, which was completed in 2023, was initially shelved by Warner Bros. as part of cost-cutting measures and was slated for a tax write-off. However, following significant public backlash, the project was acquired by independent distributor Ketchup Entertainment, ensuring its release. The film received its first preview at San Diego Comic-Con last year during a Hall H presentation. Now, it is returning to San Diego for its world premiere, a full month before its national debut.
The premiere will take place on Saturday, July 25 at the AMC Mission Valley 20 theater. Director Dave Green and star Lana Condor will provide a special introduction. Tickets will not be sold directly; instead, they will be distributed via a lottery exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con badge holders through the event's online portal. A standby line will also be organized at the venue for those who are not selected.
For audiences outside San Diego, the movie will open in theaters nationwide on August 28. The film humorously reimagines the classic rivalry between Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, blending live-action with animation in a courtroom comedy framework where the Coyote sues the Acme Corporation for the disastrous products that constantly fail him. With its unique premise and DC Comics influence, Coyote vs. Acme has generated considerable anticipation among fans of animation and comedy alike
