As Australia braces for a long, tough summer, rural women have been building resilience and community by celebrating their country lifestyle.
It was the first Cowgirls Gathering for Anne Mayerhofer, who travelled to Kilkivan, in Queensland's South Burnett. "I realised just how light I'm feeling and happy now; that I need to do this more often, being with friends, being with horses.Edwina Pilch from Brookfield in Brisbane said self-care needed to be prioritised."It's important that we do look after ourselves, because I think when a woman goes down, everything comes down.
She led clinics for women and their daughters and enjoyed a break with friends after a hectic year of competition.
