Cowell nets 29 as Pingry upsets No. 9 Rutgers Prep
Dylan Cowell recorded a double-double with 29 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks for Pingry in its 64-58 victory against Rutgers Prep, No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, in Martinsville. Pingry led 14-11 after the first quarter when Rutgers Prep fought back with a 23-15 second half to take a 34-29 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Pingry outscored Rutgers Prep 17-7 to regain the lead, 46-41. Pingry stretched its lead after an 18-17 fourth quarter and held on to win. Neel Sappidi recorded a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double for Pingry. Ryan Rust scored 12 points, collected 14 rebounds, dished out five assists and had three steals for a double-double. Matan Zelcowicz tallied 10 rebounds. William Brunson led Rutgers Prep with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three assists for a double-double. Nicolas Nsenkyire tallied 15 points, five rebounds and seven steals. Rocco Loomis totaled 12 points with three assists while Bryce Williams had 11 points with five rebounds.
