However, in order to make sure those games count and that there’s life beyond a game at Washington the weekend of Jan. 7 for the Cowboys, a hot start is required. And that’s really what I think about watching these preseason games in which none of the starters gets work for Dallas. It’s impressive when the second-team defense forces the first-string Seahawks to punt to start the game. A week ago the second unit forced a turnover and punt by Jacksonville’s starters. But it doesn’t amount to much.
and that’s a shame for any player on any team, and that’s a shame for any player on any team. Quarterbacks, especially a veteran such as Dak, are different. You really don’t need to take any major hits. Just get rid of the ball. Interceptions in the preseason cost you nothing. Come to think of it, Dak didn’t really avoid interceptions in the regular season or in the playoffs against San Francisco, either, last season, which is why a few plays wouldn’t hurt.
