Adams spent the last two seasons as the Arizona Cardinals' offensive line coach, where he helped the team achieve success in the running game. During Adams' tenure, the Cardinals finished in the top 10 in the NFL in rushing yards both seasons. In 2024, they ranked 7th in rushing yards (2,451) and yards per game (144.2).
The previous season, they were 4th in rushing yards (2,365) and yards per game (139.1).Adams' experience coaching a successful rushing attack is viewed as a valuable asset for the Cowboys, who struggled on the ground last season. The team ranked 31st in rushing touchdowns (6) and sixth-worst in yards per game (100.3). With Dak Prescott at quarterback, the Cowboys have traditionally relied more on a pass-heavy offense. However, adding a strong running game could help take pressure off Prescott and open up opportunities in the passing game. The hiring of Adams also comes as the Cowboys face some uncertainty on the offensive line. Left tackle Tyler Guyton, a first-round pick in 2024, struggled with health issues and inconsistency in his rookie season. Right tackle Terence Steele is due a significant salary in 2025 and his future with the team is uncertain. And right guard Zack Martin, a future Hall of Famer, had his season cut short due to ankle surgery. Adams will need to work with these players and potentially make some adjustments to the offensive line scheme to maximize the team's potential
