The Dallas Cowboys concluded their season with a 10th loss, marking the second time in five years they finished below .500. Despite a valiant effort, including the first NFL start for quarterback Trey Lance since 2022, the team faces an uncertain future.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance started his first NFL game since Week 2 of the 2022 season when he played for San Francisco. Lance completed 20 of 34 passes for 244 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. Lance also used his legs, rushing for 26 yards. It seemed as if Lance had a connection with receiver Jalen Tolbert. Of three pass plays going more than 30 yards, two were to Tolbert, who finished with four catches for 98 yards.
Lance was a mixture of things from nice throws to Tolbert and Brandin Cooks, to a few miscues. Lance, while on the move, short-hopped a throw to a wide-open Rico Dowdle in the end zone. Lance also couldn’t get a few fade routes to connect with receivers. As the season ended in dramatic fashion when Marcus Mariota connected on a 5-yard touchdown pass to receiver Terry McLaurin with three seconds left.
