FRISCO — Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde, raised in Middlesex, England, said it’s a sad day in his native country after it was announced Queen...
“It’s just sad for the country,” Durde said after Thursday’s practice. “But I think on the other hand you got to celebrate her life. I’ve always grown up and had the Queen. It’s a sad day.”
Durde’s wife contacted him before practice that Elizabeth II passed away. The way of life in England will now change. “It’s kinda weird,” he said. “When you’re from the country, its very much a part of your life. It’s on the coins, it’s on the notes, it’s on everything. It’s on the stamps. It’s just part of the everyday thing.”
Even the British national anthem, God Save The Queen, brings a new meaning with her passing. But Durde said all Elizabeth II did was bring positivity to England. “It’s the essence of leadership to be honest with you,” he said. “She never got involved in all the things but she would have a speech on Christmas day and always say the right things and make the country think and know the difference between right and wrong.”
