Newly enshrined Hall of Famer and Cowboys great DeMarcus Ware spoke for the first time about the reaction to him singing the national anthem.
. He promised his speech was going to tell his story of growing up in Auburn, Alabama and what it took to reach the NFL, a place he didn’t expect to land when he started playing football in high school.
Singing the anthem was just part of what Ware described as an amazing weekend for him and his family.“One thing I didn’t do is mess up any of the words or the tone,” he said. “I had everything. It was a surreal moment there’s words I can’t even describe what it felt like. [Singing the anthem] it made the speech feel like I could just talk about [my] story compared to that moment.”
