This article tells the story of Dallas Cowboys center Brock Hoffman's journey to the NFL, highlighting his resilience and determination.

Injuries up front have provided Hoffman the chance to be 'a force multiplier' and add toughness to the Cowboys’ offensive line . Dallas Cowboys center Brock Hoffman leaves the field after a loss to the Houston Texans in an NFL football game at AT&T Stadium on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, in Arlington.“She called me soft,” Hoffman was saying Wednesday afternoon. “She called me another word (describing soft) and ever since then I wasn’t going to be a soft football player.

”His father was a tight end/defensive end at Catawba College. That’s where Hoffman learned about playing the game. Hoffman’s toughness and fight came from his mother. In 2018, Hoffman’s mother needed a brain tumor removed. He wanted to transfer from Coastal Carolina to play at Virginia Tech which was located closer about 100 miles from where his parents lived. Instead of sitting out, he applied to the NCAA for a family waiver to play in the 2019 season at Virginia Tech. The NCAA denied Hoffman’s request.“Early on when it first happened I was very frustrated,” Hoffman said. “That year I got to redshirt at VT and it helped me to develop, just growing throughout the game, and spent another year in the game. I’m thankful for that year.” Hoffman played two seasons at Virginia Tech before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Cleveland in 2022. He didn’t last the season, getting released from the practice squad that November. He was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad and hung around between the practice squad and active roster for the majority of his team here until now.“The adversity I’ve faced in my journey has helped me get to this point,” Hoffman said. “And it’s always going to be a motivating factor for me.” Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (88) is hoisted in the air by center Brock Hoffman (67) after he caught a first quarter touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, December 9, 202
