People with disabilities died at much younger ages in 2020.

The study based on U.S. death certificate data found that while COVID was the top killer of people with disabilities in the first year of the pandemic, it was the third leading cause of death for people without disabilities.

Intellectual and developmental disabilities are conditions involving lifelong impairments in mobility, language, learning and independent living. Examples include Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.
