The latest coronavirus case data which has a worrying message for Preston
More than 5,000 cases of coronavirus were confirmed across the country in the most recent week of data. There were 5,250 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in England in the seven days to August 5, according to the latest government data.
And the numbers are on the rise. At the same point a week earlier, there were 4,240 confirmed cases in England, and 167 in Wales. That’s equivalent to 7.5 and 5.3 cases per 100,000 people respectively.In Lancashire, Preston had the highest rate at 22.2 cases per 100,000 people. This is the third highest rate in all of England and Wales.
That’s compared to 4.8 million at the same point in 2021. Some parts of the country have a higher prevalence of confirmed cases than others.
