PETALING JAYA: Malaysia reported 172 more Covid-19 cases on Monday (May 25), bringing the country’s total infections to 7,417.
This is the first time in three weeks that the number of reported cases have gone into three digits, with the bulk of them detected at three Immigration detention centres.
Of the 172 new cases, five were imported cases while 167 were local transmissions and of the local transmissions, 159 were detected among foreigners, with 112 cases at three Immigration detention centres. Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 34 patients had been discharged, which means 5,979 patients have recovered from Covid-19 since the outbreak began.There are 1,323 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present.There are no new deaths recorded. The country’s death toll remains at 115.
