| The Sri Petaling Tabligh group, which was involved in organising a religious gathering that became a cluster of Covid-19 infections, has appealed to all participants to cooperate with health authori
ties.
"Abide and take full responsibility in giving your cooperation to the authorities to allay concerns, tension and any misconception by any quarters, be it the general public or authorities," its committee member Abdullah Cheong said in a statement. He called on all participants who attended the religious gathering on Feb 27 to March 1 to immediately contact their local health authorities for guidance and treatment."We hope all these measures will be abided and executed to the best of everyone's ability," Abdullah said. The gathering at Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur brought together missionaries from across the country, who would later return to their hometowns for missionary work.
However, the gathering became a Covid-19 cluster of infection and returning to their hometowns meant they also brought with them the virus, spreading it across the country. Yesterday, Malaysia recorded the highest single-day increase of Covid-19 cases, at 190, bringing the total to 428 cases.
