Covid-19: Rise in unemployment will lead to higher crime rates, says Lee Lam Thye

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have been urged not to take their safety for granted.

Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation senior vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said he believed that a rise in unemployment in the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic would contribute to an increase in crime rates."More criminal activities may happen especially since interstate travel is allowed and with the lifting of roadblocks by the police as the country returns to normalcy.

He said MCPF has been implementing programmes to create awareness among the public to remind them not to take their safety for granted.
