bangi Persediaan awal sudah dilakukan Institut Penyelidikan Perubatan (IMR) bagi menghadapi ancaman koronavirus baharu (Covid-19) selepas menerima perkongsian maklumat daripada saintis China.

Ketua Unit dan Molekur Virologi IMR, Dr T Ravindran berkata, data itu dikongsi saintis China sebaik mengesan penularan virus itu di republik berkenaan pada hujung tahun lalu.

“Apabila data berkenaan dikongsi saintis China, IMR sedar persediaan untuk menghadapi virus ini perlu dilakukan segera untuk memastikan Malaysia bersedia jika ia merebak. Beliau berkata demikian dalam program Bicara Persada ke-59, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia - Covid-19: Selamatkah Kita? di Bangi, hari ini.

Dr Ravindran berkata, ujian yang dijalankan IMR mengikut piawaian yang ditetapkan Pertubuhan Kesihatan Dunia dapat mengesan pesakit Covid-19 dalam tempoh 24 jam selepas sampel diterima.
