The state began updating the number of Ohioans who have received the one-dose COVID-19 vaccine to reflect data on the new 2024-2025 updated vaccine recommended for use during the upcoming respiratory virus season. At least 284,545 Ohioans have received the new vaccine since Aug. 25, an increase of 98,646 people from the prior week, the state reported. This represents 2.4% ofThere were 245 Ohioans newly hospitalized in the last week, raising the total since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 to 154,377. A total of 7 people were admitted into the ICU, raising the total since 2020 to 15,908.
The state health department reported an additional 39 deaths from COVID-19, raising the total to 44,249.
