Opinion: COVID-19 cases: Letters

I appreciate Professor Doti’s article on Feb. 13. My problem is: “To put the 0.30% death rate in perspective, that means the average probability of dying from COVID after being infected is now less than 1 in 300.” His 0.30% death rate encompasses two years, as detailed in the Daily Tracker and CDC websites, inclusive of before vaccines and before treatments. I expect it is drastically less today.

This is out of 330 million people. Forget bending the curve. Now our first responders and medical personnel, once lauded, are being fired for no vaccine.Have all those Republicans who called Jan. 6 a “legitimate political discourse“ have no shame or conscience? According to my dictionary a discourse refers to verbal talk or speech. What we saw on television was not a discourse.
