COVID19 cases in Western Visayas rise to 53
Fifty-three coronavirus disease 2019 cases have been recorded in the Western Visayas region as of Tuesday, after one new patient was confirmed in Negros Occidental, according to health authorities.
The patient was identified as a 42-year-old man from La Castellana town. He may have contracted the disease from two close contacts from Pavia, Iloilo, officials said. The Department of Health-Region 6 said in a press briefing Tuesday that of the 53 cases, 4 are medical workers including 2 doctors.Health authorities are continuing their contact tracing for more possible COVID-19 patients.
