Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob said as per the Chief Justice's directive, trial proceedings shall go on despite concerns about the coronavirus.“I just received an order from the Chief Registrar’s office that the Chief Justice has instructed that trials proceed as usual, unless a lockdown is announced.
“I am sure that the court will make an announcement regarding matters in relation to trials,” she said, before adjourning the corruption trial of former Felcra Bhd non-executive chairman Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin and his celebrity wife Datin Seri Zizie Izette A Samad. She was responding to a question raised by the couple's counsel, Datuk K. Kumaraendran, in light of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s special address to the nation at 9pm tonight to explain the government’s next course of action in combating the virus.
Malaysia recorded 125 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases today, raising the tally of infections in the country to 553. According to Health Minister Datuk Dr Adham Baba, 95 of the new cases are linked to a cluster at the Seri Petaling mosque, where a tabligh event was held from Feb 27 to March 1.
