PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 15 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (July 19), bringing the total number of infections to 8,779 cases.
Of the 11 locally transmitted cases, eight involved Malaysians while three involved non-citizens, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Of the locally infected cases involving Malayians, five were recorded in Sarawak and one each in Selangor, Sabah, and Johor. Dr Noor Hisham also said seven patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, with a total of 8,553 patients discharged since the Covid-19 outbreak began.Two patients are being treated at the intensive care unit with one of them on ventilator support.The latest death involved a 72-year-old man with the history of chronic high-blood pressure and stroke.
He was referred to Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang on July 17 and died on the same day.
