County judge rules against allowing a retrial; Seeno vows to fight on until project is approved.
A judge has upheld Save Mount Diablo’s victory in its recent legal challenge to a developer’s plans for a large housing project on Pittsburg’s scenic hills.
“This is a major victory for Pittsburg residents,” Save Mount Diablo Land Conservation Director Seth Adams said in a statement. “This was the worst environmental impact report we’ve ever seen for the worst project in Northern California. Seeno was wasting time and money asking the court for a retrial over its own decision.”
The Seeno Faria housing project, which Pittsburg approved in February 2021, would be located in the unincorporated hills south of Pittsburg and just to the east of the planned Concord Regional Park at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station. “We are very pleased and encouraged that this ruling supported the vast majority of the work and analysis included in the city’s Environmental Impact Report,” Parsons said. “City staff and the environmental consultants did an incredible job analyzing this project. While a few minor technical details remain, those will be addressed in order to bring these much-needed homes to the region.”
The developer called Save Mount Diablo an “extremist group” and said it was “just another example of a group not wanting development even though the voters of Pittsburg want us to develop.”
