Stout is charged with arson of an inhabited structure, which, according to Mike Ramsey, Butte County DA, would be his third felony strike.
, Ronnie Dean Stout , was in Butte County courtroom for the first time Monday afternoon since his arrest late last week., would remain in custody with no option for bail.
"It should be only fair to note that he claims this was an accident, that he had pulled his car off the road and found himself in the grass... The fire started, and he got frightened and left the area. He denies the statement of a witness at the area that he pushed his flaming car down into a gully 60 feet down," said Ramsey.
