These newlyweds aren't so new.
Alex and Jane Hamilton tied the knot last weekend in Clackmannanshire, Scotland, after a staggering 60-year engagement.According to a report, the two met in 1956, and it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, they were married to other people, and both had children to look after. Six years down the line, they left their prior marriages and embarked on a relationship. Alex Hamilton later popped the question in 1962.Despite planning to marry soon after, they said life got in the way.
Their five children and 11 grandchildren joined the couple for the Saturday wedding. Jane used an electric wheelchair to travel down the aisle. “It was almost like this was the way it should be," she added,"looking at what they have done together and the family coming together for that celebration." The Hamiltons incorporated multiple family members into the event, with granddaughter Claire McDonald, 29, escorting Jane Hamilton down the aisle and grandson Craig McDonald, 23, baking the cake.Sally McDonald explained that her parents have only grown fonder of each other with time."Mom still giggles like a schoolgirl when dad smiles at her," she said.
