Paul received the cash boost after watching the Martin Lewis Money Show Live Budget special.
Last month Martin Lewis issued an urgent warning to more than two million people who are missing out on a tax break worth up to £1,256 as they only have until April 5 to claim the money back. During a special post-Budget edition of the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, the financial guru explained to viewers how a “staggering” 2.1m couples are eligible for Marriage Allowance, but simply not claiming.
And in this week’s MoneySavingExxpert.com newsletter , Paul got in touch with the team to share how he followed Martin’s advice and got a refund for £1,037 within four days of making the claim. MSE.com also warns that if you’re married or in a civil partnership and one of you is a basic rate taxpayer and the other is a non-income taxpayer, or earning below the Personal Allowance threshold of £12,570, you only have until Friday April 5 to make a claim before losing £250.
