Guests say Studio 6 Extended Stay in Greece say the hotel kept most of a deposit after a failed stay and unsafe door issues.
Studio 6 Extended Stay in Greece, formerly known as Extended Stay America, is pictured Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Greece, N.Y. — Kathleen Moore said she and her friend Ken Ward were set to stay at Studio 6 Extended Stay in Greece back in late April.
The pair knew the establishment by it's previous name, Extended Stay America. They put down a deposit of $479.92 for a week's stay. When they got there, though, things were not up to par, they said.
"They gave a key card, he goes to use the key card, he can't get in," Moore said. "He goes back up to the front again, and he says the key card's not working. ""We're like, 'You're having problems with the door. That's not safe,'" said Moore.
They opted for other accommodations out of town, and the pair thought they would get the deposit back. Ward said trying to get the money back has been a challenge.
“They keep lying, saying that we stayed there," said Ward. "They got cameras for that whole hotel. They know we didn't stay there.
"I went to Studio 6 on Friday. The owner was behind the front desk, busy. I was given the front desk number to call back later. When I dialed, a few rings go through until a pre-recorded voice picks up saying, "I’m sorry, you can’t leave a message.
The person you called has a voicemail box that hasn’t been set up yet. Goodbye.
""Is there a media relations person I can speak with? " I asked. “No," said the voice on the other end, claiming the number is only for customers filing complaints. Moore said she's received a $96 refund so far and wants the remaining amount back.
She's betting there are other customers in her position.
"I don't believe in my heart that we're the only ones," Moore said. "I believe that there's other people. " While I was at Studio 6, two other parties were in front of me in the lobby asking for refunds, including a nonprofit that helps refugees resettle. There has also been a list of neighborhood complaints Moore has been made aware of from prior 13WHAM coverage, including allegations of open customer drug use.
"You've got children around there, you've got school busses around, you got families around there," Moore said. "That's important. "Town of Greece officials were leaving Studio 6 while I was pulling in Friday. I reached out for comment on the town's efforts working with the owners of Studio 6.
The town only said there is a public forum at the Greece Town Hall coming up Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Eastman Room. The public will be able to raise questions and concerns.
