Mobile County residents addressed city leaders during the council meeting Tuesday to voice opposition to the city annexing Big Creek Lake, which is the drinking
water supply for Mobile Area Water and Sewer System customers..Last week, the MAWSS board publicly supported the move.
Chief of Staff James Barber says the county residents don't need to worry because the city is not trying to annex their properties into the city. Barber says they're still very early in the discussions about annexing Big Creek Lake and have not drawn proposed maps. He says they still need to identify willing property owners along 158 to connect the city to the lake in order to annex it.
