State updates guidance on isolation and return to work
San Diego County’s monkeypox case total hit 192 Friday as the state’s top public health official said more than 66,000 vaccine doses have now been distributed across the state.
Studies, the director said, have confirmed that injecting into the dermal layer is as effective as a deeper delivery and “you can use one-fifth of a dose, but get the same immunologic reaction.” According to the county health department’s latest report on monkeypox vaccination, the region has received about 5,000 doses with about 3,000 administered so far, though that information was as of Sunday, Aug. 14. Local vaccination information is updated on a weekly schedule, and more current information will not be published until Monday.for those who test positive for monkeypox. The main change regards when people can leave their homes and return to work.
“We feel that our guidance provides more specificity and practicality than CDC guidance,” Aragón said.
