The county commission recognized the teachers and students under the leadership of Superintendent Ben Baker, who was responsible for achieving the success.

DOTHAN, Ala. - The Dale County Commission recognized Dale County Schools for achieving a historic milestone on the state report card. The school system achieved a 95 overall score on the state report card, the highest for a county school system in state history.

The county commission recognized the teachers and students under the leadership of Superintendent Ben Baker, who was responsible for achieving the success. Baker said the achievement is not possible without support from the county commission and hopes to use this as motivation moving forward. “Truly a team effort. So it takes more than just the school system. It takes the county commission. It takes the sheriff’s department. It takes communities within the county. All coming together with one goal, and that’s to have the very best,” Baker said. “We’re thankful for them and looking forward to continuous improvement. When you have success, you’ve got to continue to build on that, and we’ll continue to raise the bar and look to get even better.” Baker said the achievement is significant, as many county schools lack the resources available to larger city schools.
