Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob speaks in an interview for a documentary on the MCO, produced by Bernama TV, at Perdana Putra recently. - Bernama: The country will witness major changes in the policy of employing foreign workers and to curb the entry of illegal immigrants post Covid-19, according to Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Explaining further, he said tourism was among economic sectors adversely affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, with many hotels shutting down their operations and the retrenchment of workers, which led to high unemployment rates. Apart from policy changes, another matter to be given extra attention was the never-ending issue of the influx of illegal immigrants into the country.
The enforcement will continue to be strengthened even after Covid-19 has ended, to ensure the country remains free of any recurrence of import-related cases in the future as well as to resolve other issues related to illegal immigrants.
