Akron police are investigating two incidents where counterfeit money was used at CVS stores.

Akron Police detectives have launched an investigation after recent incidents of counterfeit money being used at two CVS stores. According to a press release from Akron Police , officers responded to a CVS in the 1900 block of West Market Street around 10:35 a.m. Thursday for reports of a theft. The manager of the CVS told officers that an unknown man came into the store and bought three gift cards each valued at $500.

Later, according to police, it was determined that the money the man used was counterfeit. Detectives are now working to identify the man, who police suspect may be responsible for a similar incident at a CVS in the 500 block of East Market Street Wednesday
