Dundonald housing development at centre of tensions

Council officials have had to intervene in a row over the location of a play-park at an East Belfast housing development.

A former Lisburn and Castlereagh councillor has branded the situation at the £70 million Lagan Homes development “ridiculous” amid allegations of negative commentary posted on social media sites. “Everybody in the village is just disgusted by it, that people would go to such lengths to intimidate others. We have a legal right to investigate this. I believe there is a planning issue here and we want to get to the bottom of it.”

“Now, we have never voiced our opinion on anyone else within the village. There’s now a Millmount website where they have called us all sorts of names on it. You’d rather someone coming to your door and discussing it, not putting it all over a Facebook site as keyboard warriors.” Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council planning committee approved the ambitious development of 480 homes in 2017.
