It's been a long time since people in this remote corner of Australia have been able to buy locally grown fruit and veggies. A new farm has changed that.
For the first time in decades, there's a farm on the Gove Peninsula producing fruit and veg for locals to buy.
"Usually the produce travels a long way to get to Darwin and then can sit on the barge for seven to 10 days before it gets to us ... so most of the time it's looking a bit sad," she said.The farm that Ms Pajer is talking about is located at Yirrkala on the Gove Peninsula, about 650 kilometres east of Darwin.
"Yolngu people are seeing this and wanting even more variety, and there's healthy eating now in the homes of every Yolngu and Balanda people and it's going to extend from this," she said.
