A forum post from an Eleven Warriors member speculates on the unusual play calling choices made by Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and offensive coordinator Jim Knowles against Michigan, suggesting it might have been a strategic decision to avoid facing Oregon three times during the season.

As much as I try not to, to this day, I can't shake this weird feeling that the egregious play calling against Michigan might have been on purpose. I've seen people suggest that Day or Kelly were paid off, or perhaps even Day is so sick of this job that he is purposely trying to get fired to collect on his buyout instead of just walking away and collecting on none of it.

I find those scenarios extremely unlikely, but I guess nothing in life is impossible (the latter should be put to bed by the incredible game plan they had for Tennessee). But how about this one - what if Day and Kelly decided that Oregon is the one team they truly match up against the worst and wanted to avoid having to play them three times this year as well as get a week of rest on the front side rather than risk no rest at all with a title game loss? I mean, they knew they were still in with a Michigan loss. I just still can't believe to this day that the play calling was just some sort of accident or continuous bad judgment over an entire 60 minutes - those two are way too smart. Maybe they were playing chess and not checkers this whole time.....? Yes, maybe I'm being ridiculous, but again, I just haven't been able to wrap my head around what I saw
