Marysville families are weighing in and asking questions about the district's school closure plans amid the $3 million budget deficit.
"They're facing staff cuts besides the school cuts and services and potentially sports, and everything is on the chopping block, potentially," David Vinvek of Marysville told KOMO News.
"It's gonna take all of us to figure all this out," stated Laurell Lundgren Parratt, who has a granddaughter in the district. Interim Superintendent Dr. Dave Burgess said these exercises at earlier meetings have been productive. The district has tracked enrollment and school capacity, as well as building condition, size, and location, but no decision on closures has been made. The Marysville Education Association is hopeful new district leadership can help bring more students back to Marysville despite the anticipated cuts.
"What is your message for families as you work to navigate the budget situation?" KOMO News' Jackie Kent asked.
