The San Diego Padres are reportedly looking to trade star players, while the Cincinnati Reds need a right-handed outfielder. Jurickson Profar could be the perfect fit for both teams.
The San Diego Padres have had a rather disappointing offseason so far. The team is rumored to be trading star players like Dylan Cease and Luis Arraez, but no deals seem imminent for either player.San Diego is also reportedly trying to re-sign star outfielder Jurickson Profar . The 31-year-old outfielder just had a career year, slashing .280/.380/.459 with 24 home runs and 29 doubles. Profar earned his first Silver Slugger and first All-Star Game appearance during this incredible season.
He's projected to sign for $25 million over two years, according to Spotrac, but it would be a surprise to see him sign for that low amount. In reality, he could receive a deal closer to three years, $50 million, and nobody would really blink an eye. Although he struggled in 2023, he was excellent in 2022 and 2024. There's no reason a team like the Cincinnati Reds wouldn't take a chance on him for $50 million. The biggest need on the Reds roster might be a right-handed outfielder. Cincinnati recently acquired Gavin Lux to use in a super-utility role, but Lux is a lefty, just like a majority of the Cincinnati outfielders. Adding someone like Profar would be huge for Cincinnati. The Reds could slot him into the outfield as an everyday player, which would be a major boost for the team.Cincinnati brought in Terry Francona as the new manager. The team has only moved forward since adding Francona. Adding Profar would be another great move for Cincinnati, while it would haunt the Padres for years to come
